This is a Temple dedicated to MAA UGRAPRATHYANGIRA DEVI and LORD SARABHESWARA. For the first time in India a temple has been dedicated to MAA UGRAPRATHYANGIRA DEVI
Sarvaloka Bayamkari, Sarvaloka Rakshaki, Rowdhri, Sarvamangala Swaroopini, Sarva Sathru Samhari, Adhi ParaSakthi
MAA UGRAPRATHYANGIRA DEVI is hailed as ATHARVANA KALI in the Atharvana Veda.
The Protima of Devi is 13 feet tall and is made of panchalokha. The Protima of MAA UGRAPRATHYANGIRA DEVI is a beautiful sight to behold. The awe-inspiring beauty of the Devi and the sheer power she emanates arouses instant reverence in the beholder.
At the feet of MAA UGRAPRATHYANGIRA DEVI the Protima of MAA SOOLINI DURGA is installed.
The Protima is three feet tall and also made of pancha lokha. This is a beautiful image of MAA DURGA with eight arms riding her Lion.
MAA UGRAPRATHYANGIRA KALI and MAA SOOLINI DURGA are the two Sakthis of LORD SARABHESWARA whose sanctum faces the Devis' sanctum.
This is the first temple of SRI SARABHESWARA constructed in modern times. There is an old Chola temple of SRI SARABHESWARA in Thribhuvanam near Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu.
SRI SARABHESWARA is LORD SIVA. SIVA himself has taken this terrible form of half-bird half-animal. He has the trunk and legs of an animal, and the wings and claws of a bird. He has a terrible countenance with bared fangs and a lolling tongue.
MAA BHUVANESWARI is to the right of SRI SARABHESWARA. This is a granite idol more than 10 feet tall, the upper hands holding the Pasa and Ankusa and the lower hands showing the Vara and Abhaya Mudras.
SRI SKANDA, or LORD SUBRAHMANYA,or LORD MURUGA as he is known is to the left of LORD SARABHESWARA, directly facing MAA BHUVANESWARI. Here he is known by the name of SRI SWAMINATHASWAMY.
The forecourt in front of the four Sannidhies is the location for the Dhyana Mandapa. In the centre of the Dhyana Mandapa is the MAHA MERU {SRI CHAKRA}.
Swami Santhananda attained Maha Samadhi before the completion of Chennai Skandhashramam.
